Lily on Reason & Politics class
From the course catalog:
We’ll consider the ideas about poetry that practicing writers develop in lectures, letters and critical prose, including the “solitude” of James Baldwin and Rainer Maria Rilke, Victor Shklovsky’s “defamiliarization,” Robert Bly’s “Leaping Poetry,” Federico Garcia Lorca’s dark power of the “duende,’ Richard Hugo’s “trigger,” Pablo Neruda’s “pigeon claw,” Jorie Graham’s “silences,” and TS Elliot’s “objective correlative.” In this course we will seek to create a nurturing, critical workshop community that helps us experiment and hone our poetic craft.
